Seasonal influenza, also known as the flu, is an extremely contagious respiratory illness. Barrier Reef Medical Centre now has vaccinations in stock. Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself against the flu and complications associated with the flu, including pneumonia. In 2017, there were 250,000 cases in Australia. The flu is spread by coming in contact with an infected person. As a healthy person can begin infecting others from as early as 1 day before symptoms develop, and up to 5-7 days after becoming sick, it can be difficult to control the spread of the virus. If you are infected with the flu you can spread it to people up to 6 feet away. Call us now for information on our flu clinics. 07 4051 6299
