Our policy for uploading health summaries ensured that only once your permission is given in your consult, a Health Summary is uploaded to your file. Only information you permit is uploaded. If you do not wish to share certain information, you have the right to block it from being uploaded. No information is uploaded without your consent. BRMC’s My Health Record policy is to give only our Doctors access to your file.
Men’s Health Week encourages males across Australia to think about health and wellbeing. Here at Barrier Reef Medical Centre we have compiled the ‘Man Overhaul’ appointment – A comprehensive Men’s health check that incorporates a general examination, prostate examination and a full skin check. These appointments consist of 15 minutes with the nurse and 30 minutes with the Doctor and are available daily with all of our Doctors.

We have received both our private and public stock of Quadrivalent (four strain) influenza vaccines. Our private vaccines are available for purchase for those who do not qualify for the Government’s public (free) vaccines. Please phone the surgery to book into our daily Flu Clinics.

The criteria for people to receive the Government public vaccine is as follows:
- Over 65 years of age
- ATSI (ages 15 years and over)
- Pregnant women
- Medical ‘at risk’ groups (chronic disease).
Welcome to our new doctors who commenced consulting with us on the 23rd of January. Dr Nicole Gryg and Dr Ani Garg are GP registrars currently studying for their GP Fellowship. Both Doctors are available for appointments Monday to Friday 8am – 5.30pm.
We would like to say farewell to Dr Thomson who has to move to complete her GP training. We wish her well for the future and thank her for her dedication whilst working with us.

From 1st November 2016, the shingles vaccine is provided FREE for people aged 70 years, with a five year catch-up program available for people aged 71-79 years.
Shingles is a painful blistering rash that can be readily prevented by this vaccine.
To receive the free immunisation, please contact us on 4051 6299 for an appointment with your Doctor or make an appointment online at www.brmc.com.au. It is important to note that although the vaccine is provided at no cost, a consultation fee may apply.
Dr Linda Thomson is now working full-time with appointments available Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. We welcome back Dr. Debbie Richards on 4th October 2016 after 3 months travelling in South America with her family.
